Town Council

The Town of Kilmarnock is chartered with a Council-Manager form of government. The mayor serves as the official ceremonial head of the town, chairing the Council sessions and voting only in the event of a tie within the Council. The six-member Town Council is elected to four-year alternating terms. The Town Manager is the Chief Administrative Officer of the town and also serves as Director of Public Utilities.

The Town Council meets at 7:00 p.m. on the third Monday of every month at the Town Hall at 514 N. Main Street. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Click here for directions. Public Hearings

A public hearing will be conducted by the Kilmarnock Town Council on March 15, 2010 at 7 PM in the Kilmarnock Town Hall, 514 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, VA.

The following hearing is to solicit public comment on:

  • An ordinance to adopt and enact a new complete town code of ordinances, chapters 1 through 54, including new fee schedule.  Recodification and publishing performed by Municipal Code Corporation to bring existing town code in compliance with State law, remove inconsistencies and obsolete provisions, and to include ordinances enacted since previous codification of 1997.
