Tornado Drill-3/16

No part of Virginia is immune from tornadoes.  They can hit at any time of the year and at any time of the day.  There are two things that every family, business and organization should do to get ready:

Get a NOAA Weather Radio with SAME alerts  (Specific Area Message Encoding, a feature that lets you program your radio for your area.).

Participate in the statewide tornado drill Tuesday, March 16, at 9:45 a.m.

On Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 9:45 AM the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service will conduct the statewide Tornado Drill for 2010.

All businesses, schools, nursing care or assisted living facilities, organizations and households are encouraged to participate in the this drill. Tornados or other similar severe weather can occur unexpectedly and without any warning.

Go to http://www.vaemergency.com/ for more information on the drill and how to better prepare for a tornado.  This information will also be available on the County website http://www.lancova.com/.
